The AD8304 is a single-chip logarithmic detector optimized for low frequency signal power measurements in fiber optic systems. It uses advanced translinear technology to provide an extremely wide dynamic range in a versatile and easy-to-use format. Using proprietary design techniques and precise lasers trimming, the device also achieves wide measurement ranges and high accuracy. In most applications, only a single +5 V supply, VP, is required, but a 3.0 V to 5.5 V supply can also be used; an additional negative supply, VN, can be beneficial in some applications. When using low supply voltages, the logarithmic slope can be easily changed to fit the available range. Low quiescent current and chip-disable features advantage battery-powered applications.
